Edward Parmelee Morris papers, 1860-1940 (inclusive).

The papers contain notes, outline, and manuscript drafts for his unfinished work on Yale curriculum, 1701-1850, drafts of talks on Yale curriculum in the eighteenth-century, a typescript on the lives and cultural backgrounds of Samuel Eliot (1716-1741) and Augustus Eliot (1720-1747), and "Problems of Admission to Canadian Universities" by T. W. L. MacDermot.

Born on September 17, 1853, in Auburn, New York, Edward Parmelee Morris graduated from Yale with the Class of 1874. Upon graduation, he taught in Cincinnati from 1874 until 1876 and was an instructor in Latin at Purdue University between 1876 and 1877. Switching professions, he became a professor of mathematics at Lake Forest University, where he served until 1879. Morris then switched back to languages, becoming a professor of Greek language and literature at Drury College between 1879 and 1884...
